Provincial Nominee Program

If you are an employee and already have the commitment of your employer to petition your permanent residency in Canada, congratulations! You are on your way to Canadian residency. However, this is not the time to think that "everything is taken care of."

While a provincial nomination is an employer-driven immigrant stream, the majority of the paperwork centres on the applicant - you!

The Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) is only the first part of a two-part immigration process. Upon PNP approval, it is the sole responsibility of the applicant to file his or her paperwork with the federal government for visa issuance (provincial governments have no jurisdiction on visas). This is done via filing at an inland intake office and possibly through the relevant embassy or consulate.

In short, a significant portion of the process is centred on the applicant - including provincial and federal forms, and relevant supporting documentation. In some cases, you will be asked to speak to an Immigration Officer for a formal interview.

To navigate these potentially troublesome waters, it is essential to hire an experienced immigration practitionerto file your application in a timely manner.
